2004-07-08 [Lioness123]: I saw on tv one time about a place in New Zealand I think it was...where they have a faire each year that lasts WEEKS. It takes place near a castle where a bloody battle was faught during that time, so you're actually standing on the same ground the renaissance occured. PLUS during all that time, mostly all you do is eat, drink, and have fun.

You had to plant, grow, pick, clean, and cook your food, build your own abode, weave your own cloth BEFORE you could sew it into clothing, hunt and clean your own meat, then cure the hide for shoes and other uses, forge your own weapons(if you had any), chop and haul your own firewood, and birth your own(frequent) children, which you also had to proivde for. Then if you had time and hadn't caught some sickness or starved or frozen over the cold winter, you could eat and drink and have fun(if you had the resources).

We convert our garage into a medieval tavern and serve authentic food that I fix(mostly) over an open fire in the yard. We make wine and mead mulled cider, and we have period music and activities, like applebobbing, archery contests, swordplay, and stonecarving. It grows every year, and we are hoping to go official in another year of so.

Thw War of 1812 was started by Americans, who had a larger milatary but were still pushed back by the smaller group of Canadian and bristish soilders, along with the help of the Natives. We did burn the Whitehouse, and that's how it aquired the name. They had to whitewash the building after the fires, becuase of damage done.

And, furthermore, the current president can't be blamed for the deficit caused over the past two hundred years. I'm not sure what happened with the scholarship, but you know, it was probably a long overdue change, due to higher standards developing. Essentially, the same number of people get the scholarship, it is just harder to get, because grades and achievements are rising.
